Mineralogy, petrology and geochemistry

Petrography, ore microscopy and mineral geochemistry

We offer petrographical analyses of natural rocks using polarization- and reflected light microscopy from thin sections or polished rock slabs/mounts (only reflected light).

Petrographical reports can be modified according your specific needs and focus.

We use external providers to have an access to various types of analytical equipments suitable for mineral composition analyses. Most commonly used methods include FE-EPMA (Field Emission Electron Microprobe), FE-SEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope) and XRD (X-Ray powder diffraction) in the Centre of Material Analysis in the University of Oulu . Other methodologies are also available and services are always customized according to clients needs.

Geochemical data processing

We use external geochemical laboratories for whole-rock geochemical analyses. Our services include:

  • Sampling (e.g. Drill core or field sampling)
  • Finding the best analytical method for the project
  • Whole-rock geochemical data processing and interpretation based on the client needs (e.g. lithogeochemistry).
